I Discovered My Wife’s Betrayal on My Deathbed and Made a Life-Altering Decision to Protect My Legacy

I Discovered My Wife’s Betrayal on My Deathbed and Made a Life-Altering Decision to Protect My Legacy Save

Caleb's Desperation

“Someone, please! Help!” Caleb Miller shouted, his voice echoing down the sterile hallway of St. Jude Medical Center. The chaos in Arthur’s room consumed him, a whirlwind of urgency and fear.

He had entered to find Arthur gasping, the heart monitor wailing in protest. “Arthur, stay with me!” he urged, frantically pressing the call button. “It’s going to be okay!”

Footsteps pounded toward them, nurses and a doctor bursting into the room. “What happened?” one of the nurses demanded as she rushed to Arthur’s side.

“It’s Vanessa. She—she poisoned him!” Caleb stammered, each word slicing through him like a knife. “You have to believe me!”

The staff exchanged glances, skepticism flashing across their faces. “We need to stabilize him first,” the doctor said, focusing on Arthur.

But Caleb wasn’t finished; adrenaline surged through him. “Look for signs, check the medications! She’s been feeding him something!”

Vanessa arrived moments later, her expression a carefully crafted mask of concern. “What’s going on?” she asked, pretending to be alarmed as she surveyed the scene.

Caleb caught her eye, fury igniting in his chest. “Save your act, Vanessa. We're onto you.”

As Arthur was wheeled away, he locked gazes with Caleb, his voice barely a whisper. “I have one last card up my sleeve,” he rasped, a glint of determination breaking through his pain. “Trust me.”

The Hidden Recording

Time felt suspended as Caleb paced the waiting room, gnawing on his nails, heart racing. What did Arthur mean? The seconds dragged, each tick amplifying his anxiety.

Then, the door swung open. A nurse stepped out with a grave expression. “He’s stable, for now, but we need to keep monitoring him.”

“Did he say anything?” Caleb pressed, desperate for a clue.

The nurse shook her head, and just then, a flash of light caught Caleb’s eye from Arthur’s room. His heart raced—could it be?

“Arthur,” he called, rushing back inside. “What did you mean?”

But the sight that greeted him was stunning: Arthur, propped up slightly, was holding his phone, a sly smile forming on his lips.

“Vanessa thought she had me,” Arthur breathed, his voice stronger now. “I recorded her confession earlier this week. She never suspected a thing.”

“You what?” Caleb’s jaw dropped. “Is it… is it enough?”

“Enough to bring her down.” Arthur leaned back, the weight of his body relaxing against the pillows. “There’s a timer set to upload the video to my lawyer—and the authorities—once I’m gone.”

“You were prepared,” Caleb murmured, the full impact of Arthur’s plan crashing over him like a wave. “You knew.”

“I didn’t go down without a fight, Caleb. The truth will come out,” Arthur affirmed, a determined glint in his eyes. “All in good time.”
