I Called My Ex for Help After My Husband Hurt Me, But I Never Expected Him to Arrive Like This Save

Section 5

The wail of sirens sliced through the air, a piercing reminder of the danger closing in. Ava's heart raced as she turned to Damon, desperation clawing at her throat. “What do we do?”

“You need to run,” Damon said, his voice low but urgent. “I’ll hold him off. Just go!”

She hesitated, her feet glued to the wet pavement. Memories of Richard’s anger flooded her mind—a storm of fear and self-doubt. “What if he comes after me?”

Damon grabbed her shoulders, his grip firm. “You have to trust me. He won’t hurt you if I’m here. Just go now!”

The shroud of indecision wrapped tighter around her. Ava could hear Richard’s voice echoing from inside, his laughter cruel and mocking. She took a deep breath, her gaze darting towards the shadows where escape might lie.

But as she turned to run, a figure emerged from the doorway, tall and imposing. Richard stepped out, his lips curling into a sinister smile. “Nice of you to meet my friend, Damon,” he sneered, eyes gleaming with malice. “Did you think I wouldn’t call the police?”

Section 6

Ava's stomach dropped. “You...you told them what?”

Richard stepped closer, his confidence radiating like a dark fog. “I told them I found you with this trespasser.”

“Ava,” Damon warned, his voice low, trying to shield her. But panic surged through her veins as she realized the strategy unspooling before her.

Richard continued, “They’re on my side. They always have been. Your family? They think you're unstable. They trust my word.”

Ava shook her head, disbelief washing over her. “No. They wouldn’t...”

“You’re a good actress, Ava, but the curtain always falls. You can’t escape.”

It felt like the world was closing in as the truth hammered at her: Richard had orchestrated everything, planting seeds of doubt even in those she loved.

“There’s no one left to save you,” Richard said, his voice still smooth, as if he were discussing the weather. “Not even the police.”

Ava felt the ground shift beneath her, the reality of her isolation slamming into her. The sirens grew louder, but they felt more like shackles than a lifeline. She was trapped, suspended in a nightmare with no way out.

Despair washed over her, and she sensed Damon’s frustration morphing into fierce protectiveness as he braced for the inevitable clash. But in that moment, all she could feel was the weight of Richard’s control binding her to her fate.
