I’m Driving Home When a Dying Rider Begs Me to Keep Him Alive in a Night of Unseen Terror

I’m Driving Home When a Dying Rider Begs Me to Keep Him Alive in a Night of Unseen Terror

Pulling Over

“Did you see that? He’s still moving!” my partner shouted as fire crackled behind the twisted metal.

I slammed the brakes, tires screaming on rain‑slick gravel, and the car lurched to a stop beside the ditch.

The smell of gasoline slammed into my nostrils, mingling with the iron tang of fresh blood.

I crawled out, boots crunching over loose stone, and knelt beside the bike.

The visor was fogged, a thin veil over a pale face.

“Hey,” I whispered, “can you hear me?”

A gasp ripped through the night, ragged and desperate.

His eyes fluttered open, wide, blood glinting in the streetlight.

“Help… please,” he croaked, lips trembling with a crimson line.

My fingers fumbled for the phone, thumb shaking as I dialed 911.

“I’m at the ditch off Route 27, a motorcycle—” the screen reflected my own pale face.

A roar shattered the quiet; a delivery truck barreled past, brakes shrieking on wet asphalt.

It swerved inches from the ditch, spraying a wall of mud over us.

The cold sludge soaked my shoes, dripped down the rider’s jacket, and hissed as it hit the engine.

“Stay with me,” I said, gripping his arm, feeling the heat of his skin through the torn leather.

“Don’t try to move; they’re—”

A low metallic groan rose from the bike as the frame strained, shifting under its own weight.

Keeping Him Awake

I pressed my forehead against his, whispering words that felt like prayer.

“You’re okay, Marco. I’m here.”

His breath came in shallow gasps, each exhale a thin mist in the night air.

The bike creaked again, a sound like a dying animal.

“They’re coming,” he rasped, eyes darting toward the dark line of trees.

I turned my head, trying to see past the shadows, but the forest seemed to swallow the road whole.

Distant sirens wailed, growing louder, a thin ribbon of sound against the night.

My heart hammered; I could feel the weight of unseen eyes in the woods.

“Hold on,” I urged, squeezing his hand tighter.

His fingers twitched, then clamped down, as if trying to anchor himself to reality.

Suddenly, a shape emerged from the blackness—a tall figure cloaked in ragged fabric.
