When My Ten-Year-Old Son Stood Up to His Billionaire Father, He Uncovered a Secret That Changed Everything

When My Ten-Year-Old Son Stood Up to His Billionaire Father, He Uncovered a Secret That Changed Everything Save

Section 3

“You have to see this,” I told Laura, my voice trembling as I handed her the USB drive. My heart raced with every tick of the clock in her office, the air thick with uncertainty.

“This… this is huge,” she muttered, her eyes scanning the files on her laptop. “Where did you find this?”

“Caleb. He just… pulled it out in court.” I could barely articulate the fear knotting my stomach. “What does it mean for our case?”

Her expression hardened as she started taking notes. “This is more than just custody. This could expose him. We need to use this evidence strategically.”

But just as relief began to wash over me, her phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen, her brow furrowing. “I need to tell you something.”

“What is it?” I asked, a chill creeping into my veins.

“Richard's team… they approached me. They offered to drop the case—”

“What? Why?”

“In exchange for your silence.” Her voice was steady, but I could see the concern flickering in her eyes.

I felt the walls closing in. “They know about the drive, don’t they?”

“It’s possible. We have to be cautious,” she warned, but I could barely hear her over the ringing in my ears. The implications were as daunting as they were clear. Richard was not just fighting to keep his son; he was desperate to protect something darker.

Section 4

“We need to take this public,” I declared, determination bubbling to the surface. The stakes were higher than I ever imagined. I arranged a meeting with a journalist who had a reputation for exposing corporate corruption, my hands shaking with the weight of my decision.

As I waited in the small café, the smell of coffee mingling with anxiety, I thought of Caleb. He was supposed to be safe, yet I felt the edges of my resolve fraying.

“Do you have everything ready?” the journalist asked, sliding into the seat across from me.

“Yes. I just—” My phone chimed, cutting me off. It was Caleb’s name flashing on the screen. I answered immediately, a foreboding sense of dread settling in.

“Mom! You won’t believe what just happened!” His voice was frantic, and my stomach dropped.

“What is it, kiddo?”

“Dad was yelling at some guy today. He looked really angry and… The man said something about ‘keeping me quiet.’ I don’t know what that means, but I don’t like it!”

My heart raced as I exchanged anxious glances with the journalist. “Caleb, where are you?”

“I’m at school. Please come!”

“Stay put!” I urged before hanging up, a cloud of panic enveloping me. There was a storm brewing, and I felt utterly unprepared.

“I have to go,” I told the journalist, urgency lacing my words.

“Wait,” he said, his expression shifting from curiosity to concern. “You need to be careful if Richard’s involved.”

I rushed out the door, my mind racing. What if Caleb was in danger? Just as I confronted Richard about Caleb's involvement at the cabin, the police suddenly broke in, revealing they had been watching him for longer than I realized.
