The Moment I Realized My Wedding Was Just the Beginning of My Revenge Against His Family

Support or Sabotage?
As I paced the dimly lit hallway, my heart raced. Julian's accusation echoed in my mind: untrustworthy. I felt a twisted sense of satisfaction; he didn’t understand the layers of my plan yet.
“Julian,” I said, turning to face him. “You know how toxic your family can be. I’m not your enemy. I’m trying to help you break free.”
His expression softened, just a fraction. “You really expect me to believe that? After what just happened?”
I met his gaze, steady and resolute. “I know your parents are controlling, and they don’t care about what you want. Together, we can confront them. But you have to trust me.”
“You think you can just waltz in and dismantle a dynasty? It’s not that simple.”
“Neither is our marriage, Julian. Trust me, or our future is bleak. I have resources they don’t.”
His shoulders relaxed slightly. “Maybe we could—”
I stepped back, sensing my words had struck a chord. “We can discuss it later.”
As I turned to leave, I froze at the sound of muffled voices coming from the adjacent room. It was Victoria and Malcolm.
“He’s getting too defiant, Malcolm. It’s time to send him away for ‘retraining.’”
My breath caught. The manipulation ran deeper than I imagined. I slipped out of sight, dread pooling in my stomach. I had to act fast.
Truth Unraveled
Later that night, I confronted Julian in the study, my heart pounding with purpose. “I found these,” I declared, unfurling the documents I had stolen from the office. “Your family's corruption runs deeper than you know.”
For a moment, the color drained from his face as he scanned the pages. “What is this?” he breathed, a mixture of disbelief and anger flickering through his eyes.
“I haven’t just been sitting idle, Julian. I have plans to expose them.”
He shifted his weight, uncertainty etching lines across his forehead. “You think you can take them on alone?”
“I want you by my side. We can take them down together.”
But Julian hesitated, his conflict palpable. “They’re my family… I can’t just turn against them.”
“They don’t care about you! They want to control you!”
His expression hardened, frustration boiling to the surface. “You don’t understand what’s at stake.”
Just as I felt like I was making headway, he dropped the bombshell. “You think I’m the victim here? I’ve known for months, Elena. I’ve been using you to access your resources. Our marriage was a means to an end.”
The punch of his words landed solidly, knocking the air from my lungs. I stared at him in disbelief, the pieces falling into a horrid alignment. “You… what?”
“I never cared about this. Just leverage, Elena. You were never more than that.”
My heart shattered alongside my trust. Reality crashed in, heavy and suffocating. I staggered back, the weight of betrayal bringing tears to my eyes, but no more words came. I was left standing alone, surrounded by the walls of a dark, deceptive marriage.
