The Moment I Realized My Wedding Was Just the Beginning of My Revenge Against His Family

The Moment I Realized My Wedding Was Just the Beginning of My Revenge Against His Family Save

Confronting Julian

I paced the library, the weight of his slap still crawling under my skin. Anger replaced the shock, turning it into a weapon I could wield. “You think this is a game, Julian?” I shot back as he followed me through the doorway.

He crossed his arms, irritation etched across his face. “You’re overreacting. We can talk about this.”

“Talk?” I interrupted, my voice low and steady. “You just slapped me in front of your family. This isn’t just about us anymore.”

He scoffed, dismissive. “What are you going to do? Write an expose on my family? You really think your investigation firm can take them down?”

The laugh in his voice ignited something within me. “Try me,” I replied, stepping closer. “I hold the key to unraveling everything they’ve built. You’re playing with fire.”

Julian’s confidence faltered, just for a moment. The glint in my eye made him hesitate. “You’re bluffing,” he said, though his voice lacked conviction.

“Or maybe you just don’t know me at all,” I challenged, leaving the tension hanging between us. I turned to leave, a small smirk creeping onto my lips as I felt the momentum shift. I was closer to my revenge than I had ever been.

A Hidden Revelation

The evening wore on, laughter and music spilling through the halls while I made my way to the family’s office, my heart racing. The party was a distraction, a cover for my true purpose. With every step toward the door, I felt the thrill of what I was about to uncover.

Inside, papers were strewn about, but I focused on a hidden drawer beneath the desk. I paused, heart pounding, before sliding it open. My breath caught as I discovered documents detailing their illegal dealings. This was it; this was the evidence I needed.

But then, chaos struck. My elbow brushed against a delicate vase, sending it crashing to the floor. Time slowed as I froze, listening for footsteps. “Elena?” Julian’s voice called from the hallway.

I quickly snatched the papers, shoving them behind my back. Panic surged through me as he burst into the room, his eyes searching the space. My pulse raced; I was trapped.

“What are you doing in here?” he demanded, stepping closer. “You better not be hiding something.”

“Just looking for a place to think,” I replied, my voice steady but my heart a wild drum in my chest. The evidence was within my grasp, yet he was right there, too close.

Just as I thought I’d secured my victory, I saw his expression shift. “Why do I feel like you’re keeping secrets from me, Elena?” His voice cut through the air, leaving me questioning everything I thought I knew about him.
