Chapter 3: The Secret

I tried to push the text message out of my mind, to focus on the present moment. I ordered a cup of coffee, and sat down at a small table by the window. As I sipped my coffee, I couldn't help but think of all the secrets I had uncovered during my marriage to Reeve. The secret meetings, the hidden bank accounts, the whispered conversations in the dead of night.

I had always suspected that Reeve was hiding something from me, but I had never been able to put my finger on what it was. But now, as I sat in the café, I realized that I had stumbled upon something much bigger than I had ever imagined. A secret that could change everything.

I pulled out my phone, and began to scroll through my emails. I had been going through Reeve's emails, trying to find any clues about his business dealings. And then, I saw it. An email from an unknown sender, with a subject line that made my heart skip a beat. "The truth about Reeve Hale."

I hesitated for a moment, wondering if I should open it. But my curiosity got the better of me. I clicked on the email, and began to read. As I scrolled through the message, my eyes widened in shock. It was a revelation, a secret that could bring Reeve's entire empire crashing down.

I felt a surge of excitement, mixed with fear. I knew that I had to be careful, that I couldn't let Reeve find out what I had discovered. But I also knew that I had to act, to use this information to my advantage. I began to type out a response, my fingers flying across the keyboard. But just as I was about to hit send, I heard a voice behind me.

"Anwen, what are you doing here?" it said. I turned around, my heart racing, to see Sascha standing behind me, a look of concern on her face. But I knew that it was just a ruse, that she was hiding something. And I was determined to find out what it was.

Chapter 4: The Confrontation

I tried to stay calm, to keep my emotions in check. But as I looked at Sascha, I couldn't help but feel a surge of anger. She was the reason for my downfall, the reason why Reeve had discarded me like trash. I wanted to lash out at her, to scream and shout and make her pay for what she had done.

But I didn't. Instead, I took a deep breath, and tried to compose myself. "Just having a cup of coffee," I said, trying to sound nonchalant. Sascha raised an eyebrow, clearly not believing me. "Save it, Anwen," she said. "I know all about your little discovery. And I have to say, I'm impressed. You're more clever than I thought."

I felt a chill run down my spine as I realized that Sascha knew about the email. But I didn't back down. Instead, I leaned forward, my eyes locked on hers. "What do you want, Sascha?" I said, my voice firm. Sascha smiled, a cold, calculating smile. "I want to make a deal with you," she said. "You see, I'm not just Reeve's mistress. I'm his business partner. And together, we can bring him down."

I was taken aback, unsure of what to make of Sascha's words. But as I looked into her eyes, I saw something there that gave me pause. A glimmer of sincerity, of genuine emotion. And I realized that maybe, just maybe, Sascha was telling the truth.

"What do you propose?" I said, my voice cautious. Sascha leaned forward, her voice dropping to a whisper. "We can work together, Anwen. We can use the information you have to bring Reeve down, to take him for everything he's got. And then, we can split the spoils." I hesitated, unsure of what to do. But as I looked at Sascha, I knew that I had to make a decision. And fast.

Because as I sat there, weighing my options, I heard the sound of the café door opening. And I saw Reeve walking towards us, a look of fury on his face. "Well, well, well," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "Look what we have here. The two women in my life, sitting down together for a little chat." And with that, he pulled out a chair, and sat down at our table, his eyes glinting with menace.

Chapter 5: The Betrayal

I felt a surge of fear as Reeve sat down at our table. I knew that I had to be careful, that I couldn't let him know what Sascha and I had been discussing. But as I looked at Sascha, I saw that she was smiling, a triumphant smile on her face. And I realized that she had been playing me all along.

"Reeve, darling," she said, her voice dripping with sweetness. "I've been having a lovely conversation with Anwen. We were just discussing the terms of our little agreement." Reeve's eyes narrowed, his face darkening with anger. "What agreement?" he growled. Sascha leaned forward, her eyes glinting with malice. "Why, the agreement to bring you down, of course," she said. "Anwen and I have been discussing how to use the information she has to take you for everything you're worth."
