My Father’s Dates All Disappear, But When My Best Friend Vanished Too, I Uncovered a Dark Family Secret

My Father’s Dates All Disappear, But When My Best Friend Vanished Too, I Uncovered a Dark Family Secret Save

Revelations from Clara

I sat across from Clara in the dim coffee shop, my stomach twisted in knots. “You’re telling me your memories of my dad just… faded?”

“It’s like he was never there,” she replied, her brow furrowed. “I’ve been trying to piece things together. It’s unsettling.”

The clatter of cups felt distant as Clara spoke, her voice barely raising above the hushed conversations of patrons. “After our date, I forgot small things—like his laugh, even what he looked like.”

“That’s insane,” I shot back, my heart racing. “Why didn’t you say anything sooner?”

“I thought it was just me. I didn’t want to believe it was connected.”

She paused, nibbling on her lip. “But then I started noticing other patterns, people at the charity—women who dated him seemed to have similar experiences.”

“What do you mean?” I leaned in closer, a sense of urgency brewing. “Are you saying they forgot him, too?”

“Exactly. They all just… vanished, in a way. One day they were bright and bubbly, and the next, they were gone.”

A chill raced through me, fueling my resolve. “We need to dig deeper. Find out what really happened with these women.”

Clara nodded firmly, determination etched on her face. “Let’s look into the charity’s recent activities. That might lead us somewhere.”

Unraveling the Experiment

Hours later, slumped over my laptop, Clara and I combed through the charity's files and newsletters. The room was thick with tension as I scrolled.

“Look at this,” Clara pointed, her finger trembling slightly. “They’ve recently launched a project focused on memory loss and trauma.”

“What does that mean?” I muttered, squinting at the screen. “This can’t be a coincidence.”

As we continued to explore, the pieces began to connect. Each profile of a vanished woman boasted a history tied to trauma. “They were all working on this project together,” I murmured, disbelief creeping in.

“Maybe they were testing something. What if this project is linked to my dad?”

I felt a pit forming in my stomach. “You think he knew? That he is part of this?”

“It’s possible,” Clara said, biting back her fear. “There has to be a reason they all disappeared.”

The air felt electric. Suddenly, Clara’s eyes widened at an old file she uncovered. “This one… it mentions a memory manipulation experiment from years ago.”

As I read the details, a chill coursed through me. “No way. This can’t be real.”

“It’s not just real; your father was a part of it,” Clara breathed, her voice shaking. “And every woman he dated was likely involved in this too.”

The implications yanked my breath away, and I could hardly focus. “What does this mean for my dad, for us?”

“It means he has a dark side, something he hasn’t told you,” Clara said, her final words hanging in the air like a dark cloud. Just then, my phone buzzed violently on the table.

“It’s Clara,” I murmured, but I wasn’t prepared for what I saw. The message read, ‘They’re coming for you next.’

Panic surged through my veins as I turned to Clara, my mind racing. “What does this mean? What do we do?”
