I Was Left to Labor Alone While My Husband Celebrated, and What Happened Next Changed Everything for Us Forever

I Was Left to Labor Alone While My Husband Celebrated, and What Happened Next Changed Everything for Us Forever Save

Section 3

As I lay in the hospital bed, the bright lights above me felt blinding. My heart raced as a team of security personnel entered the room, their expressions grave. The lead officer stepped forward, clearing his throat.

“Mrs. Thompson, we need to discuss your husband, Ethan.”

My stomach dropped. “What about him?”

“He’s been implicated in a financial fraud scheme that has affected several families. We’re currently seeking to apprehend him.”

“No, that can’t be right,” I stammered, confusion battling with dread. The loving husband I thought I knew was suddenly a stranger.

“He’s being accused of manipulating funds,” the officer continued. “Your family may also be affected.”

My mind reeled. Memories of Ethan’s reassuring smiles and tender touches flickered like shadows. How could this be happening? “He wouldn’t do something like that,” I whispered, but even as I said it, doubt crept in.

“This is serious, ma’am. You need to consider your son’s future.”

The weight of the officer’s words pressed down on me. I looked at my newborn son, sleeping peacefully in the bassinet across the room. My heart twisted. I was his protector now, and I had to shield him from the fallout of Ethan’s actions.

“What should I do?” I asked, panic tightening my chest.

“Just stay alert. We’ll keep you updated.” With that, they turned and left. My thoughts spiraled, trying to make sense of the chaos that had just unfolded.

Section 4

After what felt like an eternity, I was finally released from the hospital, holding my son tightly against me. Outside, the sun felt harsh on my skin, a stark contrast to the sterile walls I had just come from. That’s when I saw him.

Ethan stood at the edge of the driveway, pacing, his face a mask of desperation. “Rebecca!” he called, rushing toward me. “Thank God you’re okay!”

“What are you doing here?” I snapped, instinctively stepping back, clutching my baby closer.

“I need to explain! Please, just listen.” He grabbed my arm, his grip firm yet pleading. “I was framed. I love you and our child.”

His words slipped into my heart like a serpent, sweet yet poisonous. “You abandoned me,” I hissed. “You left me to labor alone!”

“I know! But you have to understand—I had no choice!”

Tears blurred my vision as I searched his eyes for the truth. “You’re asking me to believe that you’re innocent, but what if you aren’t?”

Just then, my phone buzzed violently in my pocket. It was the police. I hesitated, staring at the screen, my heart racing.

“You don’t believe me? I’ll do anything to prove it, Rebecca! Just help me.”

“Help you?” I echoed, shaking my head. “Why should I trust you?”

But before he could respond, the sound of police sirens pierced the air, growing closer by the second. Panic surged through me as reality sank in.

“Rebecca, you have to make a choice right now,” Ethan said, his voice a low growl, eyes cold as ice. “If you don’t help me, I’ll take our son away from you.”
