I Walked Into My Husband’s Gala With My Daughter, Only to Order My Brother to Destroy His World

I Walked Into My Husband’s Gala With My Daughter, Only to Order My Brother to Destroy His World Save

Unexpected Arrival

I certainly wasn't expecting to see you here, Chloe said, her polished smile barely concealing the contempt in her eyes as she glanced at my inexpensive coat.

"What brings you to tonight's gala, Vivienne?" she tilted her head, voice syrupy.

I squeezed my six‑year‑old daughter Sophia's hand. Her tiny fingers clutched a glittery necklace she had spent the afternoon making.

"We came to surprise Dominic," I said, forcing a smile.

Sophia beamed, hugging the necklace to her chest. "Daddy's going to wear it," she whispered, eyes bright with the certainty of a child.

Chloe laughed— not kindly, not politely, but cruelly. "A surprise? I really don't think that's wise."

She crossed her arms, satisfaction evident. "The executive vice president is already upstairs." She paused, savoring the sting. "With his wife." She lifted a brow. "And their son."

The words stole the air from my lungs. "My… what?" I managed, heart hammering.

Her smile widened. "You didn't know? I assumed someone would have told you by now."

Nearby conversations faded as curious guests began stealing glances. Chloe made no attempt to lower her voice. "In all honesty, Vivienne, you're making this awkward. You should leave before security has to escort you out."

Beside me, Sophia tugged gently at my sleeve. "Mommy… where's Daddy?" Her small voice quivered, clutching the handmade necklace tighter, as though protecting it from the world.

My heart cracked. I knelt beside her, covering her ears with both hands, feeling the soft hair of her crown against my palm.

When I stood, the disbelief had vanished, replaced by icy calm. I reached into my handbag, pulled out my phone, and dialed.

Victor answered on the third ring, his voice low, a practiced calm that had steadied me through countless crises.

"You called?" he asked.

I swallowed, letting the weight of the moment settle. "I'm at the gala. Chloe just told me Dominic and his family are already upstairs. I need you to…"

I let the words hang, the breath in my throat catching on the name of my brother, the one who could move mountains with a whisper.

Victor's Command

The line crackled, then steadied. Victor's voice was a soft, confident murmur, the kind that made the world feel like a chessboard.

"Tell me exactly what you need, Vivienne."

I slipped a discreet, palm‑sized device from my coat pocket onto the table, its surface matte and unassuming.

"Take it all away," I said, the command as cold as the steel of the gala's chandeliers.

Victor's pause was deliberate. "You understand the scope?" he asked.

I nodded, even though he couldn't see me. My mind raced— Dominic's wife, their child, the guests, the press waiting to photograph my face. All of it hinged on a single, invisible lever.

"The device will grant me access to the building's infrastructure," I whispered, feeling Sophia's necklace pulse against my skin. "Disable power, lock down the floor, and… make sure no one leaves the suite."

Victor's chuckle was barely audible. "Consider it done."

He signaled, and a faint vibration traveled through the device, confirming a secure connection. I felt the subtle hum of a command being relayed through hidden lines.

Behind the glossy veneer of the gala, unseen hands began to move.
