I Thought I Knew My Father Until His Dates Started Disappearing, Leaving Me Desperate for Answers Save

Unraveling the Threads

My heart raced as I knelt beside Maren, her body limp against the cold park grass. Panic clawed at my throat. The text message had flashed ominously on her screen: 'Do not trust him. It's time for the truth to be revealed.' What truth? Who could possibly know my father like this?

I grabbed her shoulders, shaking her gently. “Maren, please, wake up!” My mind raced, tangling with the implications of those words. I couldn’t let fear paralyze me; I had to dig deeper.

“Don’t trust him…”

The phrase echoed like a curse. I pulled out my phone, my fingers trembling as I replayed the events of the past few days. Every vanished woman, every withheld detail, began to coalesce into a sinister picture. Someone out there knew, and they were willing to use that knowledge to hurt Maren.

As I called for help, I mentally mapped out my next steps. I had to find out who was behind these threats. Was it someone from my father’s past? Or was it a stranger who had taken it upon themselves to warn the women in his life?

The Truth Revealed

When I stormed into our living room, my father's face was a mixture of confusion and dread. “What happened? Where’s Maren?” he demanded, panic rising in his voice.

“She collapsed at the park!” I shot back, the adrenaline fueling my anger. “What did you do to her, Dad?” I held out my phone, the text message glaring back at us.

“Not to trust him…”

His eyes widened as he read the message. “I don’t understand. What does this have to do with me?” His defensiveness made my heart race even faster.

“You need to tell me the truth. There’s something you’re hiding. What happened to these women?”

He took a deep breath, his resolve faltering. “I lost someone… someone dear to me. Many years ago.” He paused, his gaze drifting into the past. “She had a twin sister. I didn’t know…”

A chill racked through me. “A twin sister? Who?”

“Her name was Lila. After she died, I thought I’d closed that chapter. But now…” His voice broke. “If Maren is Lila’s sister, then her life has been in danger.”

The realization hit me like a freight train; Maren was Lila's twin. “That’s why the messages started! Someone is after her because of you!”

“I never knew, I swear,” Elias pleaded, tears brimming in his eyes. “But now, someone is trying to set things right. Someone who holds a grudge.”

My world spun. Maren’s life wasn’t just intertwined with my father’s; it was at the mercy of a dark secret I had no idea existed. The threat wasn't just about dating anymore. It was personal. It was revenge.
