I Fell From the Sky, But My Husband Had No Idea I Was Ready For This Moment

I Fell From the Sky, But My Husband Had No Idea I Was Ready For This Moment Save

Amelia's First Encounter with Jake

With every ounce of strength, I crouched behind a jagged boulder, heart pounding, the salty air stinging my wounds. I had no idea who might come searching for me or what they wanted. I kept my breath shallow, praying the fisherman wouldn’t notice.

The sound of splashing footsteps drew nearer, and I peeked out just enough to see a rugged man scouring the rocks. "Damn it," he muttered, frustration etched across his face as he rummaged through the pebbles. "Where is that damn net?"

“You’re not going to find anything if you don’t stop moving,” I thought, fighting the urge to call out.

Then he turned, his gaze landing on me. “Hey! Are you okay?” His eyes widened in surprise, and he rushed towards me, extending a hand. “You look like you’ve been through hell.”

I took his hand, feeling the warmth of a stranger's grip. “I... I need help,” I whispered, still battling the exhaustion. “Please.”

“I’m Jake,” he said, pulling me gently to my feet. “What happened to you?”

Every muscle in my body trembled. I didn’t want to divulge the details of my fall or the horror of Richard’s betrayal. “I had an accident and... I need to get back to civilization,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

He nodded, concern etched on his face. “Let’s get you out of here.” He led me away from the rocky shore, but my mind raced with thoughts of Richard. “Can he get away with this?” I wondered.

Racing Towards Town

As we walked, I stole glances at Jake. He seemed genuine, but could I trust him? My paranoia flickered like a dying flame. “This is it, Amelia. You have to figure out how to survive,” I reminded myself.

“What’s the story?” Jake asked, his voice steady. “You can tell me.”

I hesitated, weighing my words. “My husband... he’s not who you think he is. He wanted access to everything I own. I had to escape.”

Jake’s brow furrowed, and he seemed to understand the gravity of my situation. “I’ll help you. Let’s get to town, and we can figure it out.” His words offered a flicker of hope.

But in the depths of my mind, a darker thought loomed: What if Richard was already making moves to erase me?

As we neared the outskirts, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I fumbled to pull it out. Richard's name lit up the screen. “Amelia, where are you? You need to come home now, or I’ll make you disappear for good.”

My heart sank as I processed the threat, the weight of my decision hanging heavily in the air. “He thinks he can control me, even from a distance.”

“You can’t go back,” Jake said, his voice urgent. I nodded, determination hardening within me. “We’ll notify the authorities.”

But as we walked into town, dread twisted in my gut. I knew the one person who could unravel the truth and ensure justice was on my side, if only I could get to them before Richard's grip tightened again.

“I’ll make him pay,” I whispered to myself just as the plan started to form. This battle was far from over.
