I Discovered My High School Sweetheart Planned to Use Me, So I Turned the Tables with an Unexpected Proposal of My Own

I Discovered My High School Sweetheart Planned to Use Me, So I Turned the Tables with an Unexpected Proposal of My Own Save

Glenn's Desperate Attempts

“A prenup? Come on, that’s just unnecessary,” Glenn said, shaking his head with an incredulous smile. “We’ve been together so long, you know I love you.”

I felt a shiver of excitement and fear rush through me as I leaned forward. “I need more than just words, Glenn. I need proof of your commitment now.”

His laughter faded, replaced by a deep furrow in his brow. “Marriage will strengthen us! Think about it—our shared future. I’ve been planning so many things!”

“What kind of plan?” I challenged, unable to hide my skepticism. “Are you going to keep telling me about our dreams while ignoring the reality of what you’ve tried to do?”

He hesitated, the confidence draining from his eyes. “You know how much I care about us…”

“It’s about trust,” I interrupted sharply. “You think I’d just accept your words after hearing your true intentions?”

His expression shifted again, a flicker of doubt. “But we could build a life together, a real family.”

“I need to know you’re in this for the right reasons,” I said firmly, enjoying the slight tremor in his voice. I couldn't let him charm his way out this time.

Uncovering Hidden Truths

As the conversation deepened, I pushed for more details about his finances. “You do have your own debts, right?”

Glenn brushed it off with a wave of his hand. “It’s nothing to worry about. It won’t affect us. Just a few bumps.”

“Bumps?” I echoed, my heart pounding. “You mean debt?”

He squirmed, his voice dropping. “It won’t be a problem if we’re together.”

“I don’t want to be entangled in your problems, Glenn. I need full transparency!” I felt a surge of strength. If he thought he could manipulate me further, he was wrong.

“I’m trying to protect us!” he shot back, but I saw the cracks in his composure. “You don’t understand!”

“No, you don’t understand,” I said, my voice steady. “This is about my lake house and my future. I won’t let your mistakes become mine.”

Glenn’s eyes darkened, and I felt the tension rise as he shifted in his seat. “You’ll see how good we can be together.”

“I’m not interested in empty promises. Let’s meet with a lawyer and talk prenup,” I insisted, my heart racing with every word.

Finally, he nodded slowly, but I sensed the storm building within him.

As we sat in the lawyer’s office hours later, I was ready for full disclosure. But just when I thought I was gaining control, Glenn dropped a bombshell. “I have a child,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “With someone else.”

My heart dropped, the room spinning around me. The lawyer’s shocked expression confirmed it: I was in deeper than I ever imagined.
