I Altered His Suitcase to Expose the Truth Behind His Promises and Faced the Reality of My Alone Time with Our Triplets

I Altered His Suitcase to Expose the Truth Behind His Promises and Faced the Reality of My Alone Time with Our Triplets Save

Confrontation Over Video Chat

My heart raced as I positioned my phone in front of me, the screen lighting up with Callum’s familiar face. He looked surprisingly unbothered, hair slightly tousled, the kind of relaxed that felt like a slap to my frayed nerves.

“What’s up?” he asked, a hint of annoyance in his tone.

“What’s up?” I echoed, incredulous. “You know what’s up! I saw the picture.”

His expression hardened. “What picture?”

“You know what picture,” I snapped, frustration boiling over. “The woman you were smiling with at the beach.”

“It’s just a friend,” he replied, almost too quickly. “You’re overreacting.”

“Overreacting?” I leaned closer to the camera, the coldness of the glass matching my icy resolve. “You’re abandoning our family, Callum. That’s not overreacting!”

He shifted uncomfortably, avoiding my gaze. “I just needed a break. The triplets, the pressure—everything got too much.”

“So you run away? That’s your solution?”

He opened his mouth, probably to deflect, but I continued, “You made promises! You said we were in this together!”

“Look, I never signed up for this level of responsibility,” he finally admitted, his voice quiet. “I just needed some space.”

I fought to keep my voice steady. “If this is about the suitcase, I...”

“What did you change in there?” he interrupted, a flicker of genuine curiosity in his eyes now.

The Shocking Truth

As I watched him, I felt an unsettling knot tighten in my stomach. “You called me frantic. What did you find?”

“What I found doesn’t matter!” he shot back, a mix of defensiveness and desperation swirling in his voice. “Can you just stop with this?”

“No!” I leaned forward, adrenaline rushing through me. “You need to tell me the truth, Callum.”

“Fine,” he finally sighed, the weight of this moment apparent on his face. “I’ve been thinking about leaving you... for the woman in the picture.”

Each word felt like a dagger. “You were thinking about leaving me?”

“It’s complicated, okay?” His voice was strained, each syllable heavy with emotion. “But she’s just a friend. I used your suitcase changes to see if you would come after me.”

“What?” I blinked, confusion and betrayal mixing into a haze. “So this was a test?”

“I was lost,” he admitted, his bravado crumbling. “I was planning to escape before the trip, but your changes made me second-guess everything.”

My world tilted. I had inadvertently pushed him further away, while he was already slipping from my grasp. “You were going to abandon us?”

“I thought it would solve everything,” he murmured, the realization that our family meant nothing to him drowning out any remaining anger.

The truth hung between us like a chasm I didn’t know how to bridge. My heart shattered, knowing he had already made his choice long before I altered that suitcase.
