I Altered His Suitcase to Expose the Truth Behind His Promises and Faced the Reality of My Alone Time with Our Triplets

I Altered His Suitcase to Expose the Truth Behind His Promises and Faced the Reality of My Alone Time with Our Triplets Save

The Picture Message

The afternoon sunlight streamed through the window as I nursed the triplets. My phone buzzed, and I glanced down. It was a picture message from Callum. Clicking it open, my heart stopped. There he was, grinning on the beach, a woman beside him, both bathed in golden light.

My stomach twisted like a knot. “What the hell?” I muttered, stuck between disbelief and anger. I stared at the image, the laughter, the carefree joy. The weight of my resentment threatened to crush me. I quickly pushed aside the babies and stood, pacing the room.

Emma, who had just arrived to help, noticed my agitation. “What’s wrong?” she asked, concern etched on her face. I turned to her, raw emotion spilling out. “Callum sent me a picture. He’s with someone else. Look at the way they’re smiling.”

“This isn’t how it’s supposed to be, Em. I never signed up for this,” I confessed, tears pricking at my eyes. “I’m so close to just leaving him.”

Emma’s expression changed slightly, her brows furrowing as she studied my face. “Are you sure about that?” she asked carefully. I could see the words formulating in her mind, but her hesitation made my heart race.

The Hidden Truth

Emma’s silence stretched between us, thick and unyielding. I swallowed hard, desperate for some reassurance. “I just feel so betrayed. I thought we were in this together.”

“I get it,” she finally said. “But there’s something I need to tell you.” Her voice dropped, almost a whisper. “I’ve been dating David.”

My breath hitched. David, Callum’s best friend? “What?” It came out more incredulous than I intended. “Why didn’t you say anything?”

“Because I didn’t know how. He told me something troubling before Callum left for the trip,” Emma confessed, her voice trembling slightly. “Callum feels suffocated right now. He mentioned wanting an escape.”

The words landed like a punch, and I staggered back. “Escape? But—” I couldn’t wrap my mind around it. “We had a family! Didn’t he want that?”

Emma shook her head, her eyes filled with sympathy. “He’s struggling, and I think David knows more than he let on. That conversation haunted him.”

As the reality sank in, I felt a tremor of panic rise within me. How could I fight for our family if he didn’t want to fight for it himself? I stared into Emma’s eyes, searching for a way forward. “What should I do?”

As the weight of my choices loomed heavier than ever, the ugly truth hung in the air: was I on the verge of losing not just my husband, but the family I had always dreamed of? I felt utterly unmoored.

Without warning, my phone buzzed again, and I turned sharply as the screen lit up with Callum’s face. I accepted the video call, my heart racing with a mix of hope and fear.

“What’s going on?” His expression was defensive, a wall already erected between us. But before I could gather my thoughts, he spat out words that shattered everything I thought I knew. As I processed his confession, he suddenly ended the call, leaving me staring at the empty screen.
