Ingredients

1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ cup (113g) unsalted butter

1 cup (120g) powdered sugar

2 large eggs

2 large egg yolks

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ cup (32g) all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

Cooking spray or additional butter for greasing ramekins

Optional: Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving

Instructions

Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins (about 6-ounce capacity) with cooking spray or extra butter, and lightly dust them with cocoa powder if desired.

Melt chocolate and butter: In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat.

Combine sugar and eggs: In a separate bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, eggs, and egg yolks until well combined. You can use an electric mixer or whisk by hand.

Mix in chocolate: Once the chocolate mixture has cooled slightly, add it to the egg mixture along with the vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and fully incorporated.

Add dry ingredients: Sift the all-purpose flour and salt into the chocolate mixture. Gently fold it in using a spatula until just combined. Be cautious not to over mix.

Fill ramekins: Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins. Leave a little space at the top, as the cakes will rise when baking.

Bake: Place the ramekins on a baking sheet for easier handling. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes. The edges should be firm, but the center will still look soft and slightly jiggly.

Rest and serve: Remove from the oven and let the cakes sit for 1 minute. Carefully run a knife around the edges to loosen. Invert each ramekin onto a plate and gently lift to release the cakes.

Garnish and enjoy: Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired. As you cut into the cake, the luscious chocolate center should ooze out, offering the ultimate chocolate experience!
