Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 for optimal juiciness)

1 cup marinara sauce (plus extra for serving)

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

4 burger buns (preferably brioche)

1/2 cup sliced pepperoni

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Olive oil (for toasting buns)

Instructions

Prepare the Burger Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined. Be careful not to overwork the meat.

Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into thick patties. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cook the Patties: Preheat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip them gently.

Add Cheese and Toppings: While the burgers are cooking, top each patty with a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese and a few slices of pepperoni. Cover the grill or skillet to allow the cheese to melt, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Toast the Buns: While the burgers finish cooking, brush the insides of the burger buns with olive oil and toast them on a separate pan or grill until golden brown.

Assemble the Burgers: Spread some marinara sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place the cheesy, pepperoni topped burger on top, then add additional marinara sauce if desired.

Garnish and Serve: Top with fresh basil leaves, close the burger with the top bun, and serve hot with a side of extra marinara sauce for dipping.
