Ingredients

6 large eggs (fresh)

Water (enough to cover the eggs by about an inch)

Ice (for an ice bath)

Salt (optional, for water and serving)

Fresh herbs or spices (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Place the Eggs: Begin by placing the eggs gently in a saucepan or pot in a single layer.

Add Water: Fill the pot with cold water until the eggs are submerged by about an inch.

Bring to a Boil: Turn the heat to medium-high and cover the pot with a lid. Once the water reaches a rolling boil, remove the pot from the heat while keeping the lid on.

Cooking Time: Let the eggs sit in the hot water for:

          - 9 minutes for slightly soft yolks,

            - 11 minutes for fully set yolks,

              - 13 minutes for hard yolks with no green ring.

Prepare Ice Bath: While the eggs are cooking, fill a large bowl with ice and water. This will help stop the cooking process.

Transfer to Ice Bath: After the desired time, use a slotted spoon to transfer the eggs into the ice bath. Let them chill for at least 5-10 minutes.

Peel the Eggs: Once cooled, gently tap each egg to crack the shell, then roll it on the counter to loosen the shell. Peel the eggs under running water for easier removal.

Serve and Enjoy: Slice in half and sprinkle with salt or garnish with fresh herbs or spices of your choice. Enjoy them as a snack, in a salad, or as part of your breakfast!
