Ingredients

2 cups pretzel sticks

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup caramels, unwrapped (about 30 caramels)

2 tablespoons heavy cream

1 teaspoon sea salt

1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder (optional for dusting)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Prepare the Pretzel Layer: Spread the pretzel sticks evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 8 minutes, just until they are slightly toasted and fragrant. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool.

Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth. Alternatively, you may use a double boiler for this step.

Make the Caramel Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the unwrapped caramels and heavy cream. Stir frequently until the caramels are fully melted and the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat.

Assemble the Bark: Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cooled pretzels, ensuring they are well-coated. Then, drizzle the warm caramel sauce over the chocolate layer, letting it flow into the nooks and crannies of the pretzels.

Add Sea Salt: While the caramel is still warm, sprinkle the sea salt evenly over the top to taste. If desired, lightly dust with cocoa powder for a touch of richness and sophistication.

Cool and Set: Carefully transfer the baking sheet to the refrigerator and let the bark chill for at least 1 hour until fully set.

Break Into Pieces: Once set, remove from the refrigerator and break into pieces of your desired size. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge (if you prefer it chilled).
