Ingredients

1 lb thick-cut bacon

1 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon chili powder

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon sea salt

2 tablespoons maple syrup

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet to allow the bacon to drain and crisp.

Prepare the Glaze: In a medium bowl, combine the brown sugar, chili powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, smoked paprika, and sea salt. Stir until well mixed. Add in the maple syrup and apple cider vinegar, and mix until you get a thick, sticky glaze.

Coat the Bacon: Lay the bacon strips out on the wire rack. Using a basting brush or your hands, liberally coat each strip of bacon with the sweet and spicy glaze. Ensure they are fully covered for an even caramelization.

Bake the Bacon: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, carefully brush the bacon with extra glaze for additional flavor. Continue baking for another 10-15 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Keep a close eye towards the end to prevent burning.

Cool Down: Once the bacon is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool on the wire rack. As it cools, it will continue to crisp up.

Serve: Once cooled, you can transfer the candied bacon to a serving platter. If desired, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley for a colorful presentation.

Enjoy: Serve your Sweet & Spicy Candied Bacon as the ultimate snack, appetizer, or a unique topping for burgers and salads.
