Ingredients

12 large pasta shells

1 pound ground beef

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 egg

2 cups marinara sauce

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

2 cloves garlic, minced

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta Shells:

    - In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

      Prepare the Filling:

        - In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula.

          - Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another minute until fragrant. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

            Mix the Stuffing:

              - In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked ground beef, ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, and Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper to taste and mix until well combined.

                Stuff the Shells:

                  - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

                    - Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce evenly on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.

                      - Carefully stuff each pasta shell with the beef and cheese mixture, placing them seam-side up in the baking dish.

                        Top with Sauce and Cheese:

                          - Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells, ensuring they are well covered.

                            - Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.

                              Bake:

                                - Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

                                  Serve:

                                    - Once baked, let the dish sit for about 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
