Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

1 cup warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried dill)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 large egg (for egg wash)

Extra melted butter for brushing

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the melted butter, activated yeast mixture, chopped dill, minced garlic, and garlic powder.

Mix the Dough: Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon or your hands until a shaggy dough forms. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

First Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

Shape the Rolls: Once risen, punch down the dough to remove air bubbles. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and place them close together in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.

Preheat the Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Egg Wash: Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the tops of the rolls for a beautiful golden finish.

Bake: Bake the rolls for 18-20 minutes or until they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Finish with Butter: Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted butter. This adds flavor and a slight shine.

Serve: Let the rolls cool slightly before serving. These squishy garlic dill rolls are best enjoyed warm!
