Ingredients

1 package (16 oz) frozen pierogi (cheese and potato or your choice)

1 lb kielbasa, sliced into ½-inch pieces

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups sauerkraut, drained and rinsed

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup sour cream

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon paprika

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon salt

Fresh chives or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Slow Cooker: Set your slow cooker to low.

Sauté the Onions and Garlic: In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Remove from heat.

Layer the Ingredients: In the bottom of the slow cooker, add half of the sauerkraut. Then layer half of the pierogis over the sauerkraut, followed by half of the kielbasa slices. Sprinkle half of the sautéed onion and garlic mixture on top, and sprinkle a little salt, pepper, and paprika.

Repeat Layers: Add the remaining sauerkraut, followed by the rest of the pierogis, kielbasa, sautéed mixture, and another sprinkle of the seasonings.

Add Cheese: Pour the shredded cheddar cheese over the top layer.

Slow Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4-6 hours or until the pierogi are tender and everything is warmed through.

Final Touch: Once cooked, gently stir everything together before serving. Top with sour cream and garnish with fresh chives or parsley if desired.
