Ingredients

1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Blanch the Green Beans: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the trimmed green beans and blanch for about 3-4 minutes, until they are vibrant green and tender-crisp. Drain and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. After a few minutes, drain the beans again.

Melt the Butter: In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Allow it to foam slightly, which indicates that it’s hot enough.

Sauté the Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the melted butter, stirring constantly for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant but not browned.

Add the Green Beans: Once the garlic is aromatic, add the blanched green beans to the skillet. Toss to coat them in the garlic butter.

Season: Sprinkle the salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) over the green beans. Continue to sauté for an additional 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are tender and well-coated.

Finish with Lemon Juice: Remove the skillet from heat and drizzle the fresh lemon juice over the green beans, tossing to combine.

Garnish and Serve: Transfer the savory garlic butter green beans to a serving platter and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve warm as a delightful side dish.
