Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp dried thyme

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp ketchup

1 tsp Dijon mustard

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Shape the mixture into four oval patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium-low and sprinkle the flour into the drippings. Whisk the flour for 1-2 minutes until it turns golden brown.

Gradually add the beef broth while whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Stir in the soy sauce, ketchup, and Dijon mustard.

Bring the gravy to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes until it thickens.

Return the cooked Salisbury steak patties to the skillet, spooning the gravy over them. Simmer for an additional 3-4 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Serve the Salisbury steak hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley, alongside mashed potatoes or your favorite sides.
