Ingredients

1 batch of red velvet cake (store-bought or homemade)

2 cups cream cheese frosting

2 cups heavy whipping cream

½ cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup raspberry preserves

1 cup fresh raspberries

½ cup dark chocolate shavings (optional)

Edible gold flakes (for garnishing, optional)

Instructions

Make the Red Velvet Cake: If you're baking from scratch, make your favorite red velvet cake according to the recipe. Let it cool completely before assembling the trifle. You can also use a store-bought cake for convenience.

Prepare the Whipped Cream: In a large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip it, as you want a light and airy texture.

Layer the Trifle: Once the cake is cool, cut it into small squares or crumble it into pieces. In a large trifle bowl or individual serving glasses, start by layering the red velvet cake pieces at the bottom.

Add Frosting: Spread a layer of cream cheese frosting over the cake pieces, creating a smooth layer.

Raspberry Layer: Spoon in some raspberry preserves over the frosting, followed by a layer of fresh raspberries.

Add Whipped Cream: Next, add a generous layer of the whipped cream mixture. Repeat the layering process until you reach the top of the bowl or glasses: cake pieces - frosting - raspberry preserves - raspberries - whipped cream.

Finishing Touches: For the final layer, top with more whipped cream and sprinkle dark chocolate shavings on top if desired. Garnish with edible gold flakes for an extra touch of elegance.

Chill: Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to let the flavors meld together.

Serve: Before serving, add a few more fresh raspberries or chocolate shavings atop each serving for an attractive presentation.
