Ingredients

1 box of yellow cake mix

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 egg

8 oz cream cheese, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

1 cup canned pumpkin puree

3 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with cooking spray or butter.

Make the Cake Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg. Mix until well blended; the mixture will be thick. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of the greased baking pan to form the cake base.

Prepare the Gooey Layer: In another mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Add in the pumpkin puree, 3 eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt. Mix until well combined, ensuring no lumps remain.

Assemble the Cake: Pour the pumpkin mixture over the crust in the baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Bake the Cake: Place the baking pan in the oven and bake for approximately 40-50 minutes, or until the center is set but still has a slight jiggle (the gooey factor). The edges will be golden brown.

Cool and Dust: Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool for about 30 minutes at room temperature. If desired, dust the top with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness and a beautiful finish.

Serve and Enjoy: Cut into squares and serve warm or at room temperature. This cake pairs wonderfully with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
