Ingredients

12 oz spaghetti or pasta of choice

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice)

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and black pepper to taste

1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Optional: 1/2 cup cooked chicken, shrimp, or mushrooms for protein

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of the pasta water.

Prepare the Sauce: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Combine Cream and Marinara: Lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream and marinara sauce, stirring constantly to combine. Let the mixture simmer for about 5-7 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.

Season the Sauce: Add in the red pepper flakes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to incorporate the flavors. If the sauce is too thick, gradually add reserved pasta water until the desired consistency is achieved.

Cheese It Up: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy. Add any optional protein here if using, and cook until heated through.

Toss the Pasta: Add the drained spaghetti to the sauce and toss well to coat the pasta evenly. Allow everything to simmer together for an additional 2-3 minutes, letting the flavors integrate.

Serve and Garnish: Remove from heat, plate the pasta, and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Sprinkle with extra Parmesan if desired.

Enjoy Your Meal! It’s best enjoyed warm with a side of garlic bread or a fresh salad.
