Ingredients

For the Beef Layer:

1 lb ground beef

4 strips bacon, chopped

1 small onion, finely diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Cheese Layer:

2 cups ricotta cheese

1 large egg

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Marinara Sauce:

24 oz jar marinara sauce

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

For Assembly:

9-12 lasagna noodles (unboiled)

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)

Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Bacon and Beef:

    - In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the fat in the skillet.

      - In the same skillet, add the ground beef and onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is softened, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

        - Stir in minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Add the crispy bacon back into the pan. Mix well and set aside.

          Prepare Cheese Mixture:

            - In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, 1 cup Parmesan cheese, fresh parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.

              Make Marinara Sauce:

                - In a bowl, mix the marinara sauce with Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes (if using) until well blended.

                  Assemble the Lasagna:

                    - Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

                      - In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce at the bottom.

                        - Place a layer of uncooked lasagna noodles over the sauce.

                          - Spread half of the beef mixture over the noodles, then half of the ricotta mixture, followed by half of the mozzarella cheese.

                            - Add another layer of marinara sauce and repeat the layering process with another layer of noodles, the remaining beef, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and another layer of marinara sauce.

                              - Top with the final layer of noodles, the remaining marinara sauce, and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

                                Bake the Lasagna:

                                  - Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

                                    - Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

                                      Serve:

                                        - Allow the lasagna to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
