Ingredients

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup cocoa powder

¼ teaspoon salt

½ cup creamy or crunchy peanut butter (your choice)

½ cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Stir well until smooth and glossy.

Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture. Whisk until fully incorporated.

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold this dry mixture into the wet ingredients, being careful not to overmix.

Once combined, pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Dollop generous spoonfuls of peanut butter over the brownie layer. Use a knife or a toothpick to swirl the peanut butter gently into the batter.

Pour the remaining brownie batter over the peanut butter layer, smoothing it out to cover it completely. If desired, scatter chocolate chips on top for extra decadence.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not completely clean).

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before lifting them out with the parchment paper (if used) and transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Slice into squares and serve. Enjoy your delicious, gooey peanut butter brownies!
