Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or turkey for a leaner option)

½ cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup finely chopped parsley

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)

1/2 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)

1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until just combined—avoid over mixing to keep the meatballs tender.

Form the Meatballs: Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are evenly spaced.

Bake the Meatballs: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until browned and cooked through.

Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, in a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir well. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a tablespoon of water to create a slurry, then add it to the sauce. Bring to a simmer, stirring for about 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.

Combine: Once the meatballs are finished baking, transfer them to a large mixing bowl. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the hot meatballs and gently toss to coat them evenly in the sauce.

Serve: Serve immediately, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Optional: Serve over steamed rice or noodles to soak up the delicious sauce.
