Ingredients

1 lb (450g) sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces

1 cup long-grain white rice

2 cups beef broth

3 tablespoons honey

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup bell peppers, diced (any color)

1 cup snap peas or green beans

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Salt to taste

Instructions

Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine steak pieces, soy sauce, ground ginger, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes while you prepare other ingredients.

Cook the Rice: Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain. In a medium pot, combine the rinsed rice and beef broth, and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover with a lid, and let it simmer for about 15-18 minutes or until the rice is cooked and broth is fully absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes before fluffing it with a fork.

Prepare the Honey Garlic Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, 2 tablespoons of melted butter, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.

Sauté the Vegetables: In a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of butter. Once melted, add the diced bell peppers and snap peas. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Steak: In the same skillet, add the marinated steak pieces in a single layer. Cook for about 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. If there’s excess liquid in the pan, let it evaporate briefly.

Combine Everything: Once the steak is cooked, pour the honey garlic sauce over it and simmer for an additional 2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Stir the sautéed vegetables back into the skillet along with the cooked rice, mixing everything together until well combined. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to heat everything through.

Serve: Transfer the honey garlic butter steak and rice mixture to serving plates. Garnish with sliced green onions for a touch of color and flavor.
