Ingredients

12 Hawaiian rolls

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk (or coconut milk for a tropical twist)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon sugar (optional, for sweetness)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for cooking)

Fresh pineapple slices (for garnish)

Shredded coconut (toasted, for garnish)

Maple syrup (for drizzling)

Whipped cream (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Custard Mixture: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and sugar (if using) until well combined.

Slice the Hawaiian Rolls: Carefully slice each Hawaiian roll in half horizontally to create a top and bottom half.

Soak the Rolls: Dip each half of the Hawaiian roll into the egg mixture, ensuring that both sides are well-coated. Let excess mixture drip off.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or griddle, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Once the butter is bubbling, arrange the soaked rolls in the pan, cut side down.

Cook Until Golden: Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Add more butter as needed for subsequent batches.

Repeat: Repeat the soaking and cooking process for all slices, adding more butter to the skillet as necessary.

Serve: Stack the golden brown French toast on plates. Top with fresh pineapple slices, a sprinkle of toasted shredded coconut, and a drizzle of maple syrup. Add a dollop of whipped cream if desired.

Enjoy: Serve warm and savor your tropical breakfast treat!
