Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)

8 oz mushrooms (sliced, preferably cremini or button)

1 medium onion (diced)

3 cloves garlic (minced)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup sour cream

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably seasoned)

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 4-5 minutes. Then, add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.

Brown the Meat: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until the meat is browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Mushrooms: Stir in the sliced mushrooms and cook for about 5 minutes, or until they are tender.

Season the Mixture: Add Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper to the mixture. Stir until everything is well combined.

Combine with Cheese and Sour Cream: Remove the skillet from heat. In a large bowl, mix together the cooked beef and mushroom mixture with sour cream and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until evenly combined.

Prepare the Bake: Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Spread it out evenly. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese and sprinkle breadcrumbs over the cheese layer.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. If desired, garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
