Ingredients

1 medium French baguette or ciabatta loaf

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

A sprinkle of sea salt for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, chopped basil, dried oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Slice the Bread: Take your baguette or ciabatta loaf and slice it in half lengthwise. If you prefer smaller pieces, slice it into smaller segments for easier snacking. Make sure not to cut all the way through the bottom.

Spread the Mixture: Using a spatula or a butter knife, generously spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on both halves of the bread or on each segment if sliced smaller. Make sure to coat the edges for maximum flavor.

Add Parmesan: If you’re using Parmesan cheese, sprinkle it evenly over the buttered side of the bread for an extra layer of flavor.

Wrap for Baking: Wrap each half of the bread in aluminum foil. This helps to keep the bread from drying out while baking and ensures it remains soft.

Bake: Place the wrapped bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes. For a crispier top, remove the foil for the last 5 minutes of baking.

Serve: Once done, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. If desired, sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt before serving. Slice into individual pieces (if applicable) and enjoy warm.
