Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup light brown sugar, packed

½ cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ cup sour cream

½ cup chopped nuts (optional)

1 tsp ground cinnamon

For the Cinnamon Streusel Topping:

¾ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup light brown sugar, packed

½ tsp ground cinnamon

¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease it well.

Prepare the Streusel Topping: In a medium bowl, mix together ¾ cup flour, ½ cup brown sugar, and ½ tsp cinnamon. Add in the softened butter and mix with your fingers or a fork until it resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside.

Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the 1 ½ cups flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ½ cup granulated sugar.

Combine the Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and sour cream until well combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined. If you are using nuts, fold them in carefully.

Fill the Muffin Tin: Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling them about ¾ full. Sprinkle a generous amount of the streusel topping over each muffin.

Bake the Muffins: Bake in the preheated oven for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the muffins from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
