Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

8 oz cream cheese (softened)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 egg (lightly beaten)

1 egg yolk (for egg wash)

1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)

Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Fresh berries (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into four equal squares.

Make the Cheese Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and the beaten egg until smooth and creamy.

Assemble the Danish: Place a spoonful of the cheese mixture in the center of each puff pastry square. Fold the corners of the pastry towards the center to create a pocket and pinch to seal.

Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and milk. Brush the mixture over the top of each assembled Danish to give it a golden color when baked.

Bake: Transfer the pastries to the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.

Cool and Serve: Allow the cheese danishes to cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve warm with fresh berries on the side.
