Ingredients

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 can (17.3 oz) crescent roll dough

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for dusting)

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Optional: Fresh fruit (like berries) or fruit preserves for topping

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Cheese Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Use a hand mixer or a whisk to blend until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

Roll Out the Dough: Open the crescent roll dough and carefully unroll it. You will find it is pre-baked, but we will shape it into a Danish.

Cut and Shape: On a lightly floured surface, separate the dough into rectangles based on the perforations. Pinch seams together if necessary to form four rectangular pieces.

Fill the Dough: Place a generous tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each rectangle. Fold the corners of the dough towards the center over the filling to create a square shape, leaving some of the filling exposed.

Brush with Egg Wash: Gently brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg to give it a golden color once baked.

Bake: Transfer the filled dough to the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crescents are golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, allow the cheese danishes to cool slightly on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving. If desired, top with fresh berries or a dollop of fruit preserves for added flavor.
