Ingredients

1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup marinara sauce (for dipping)

1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup sliced pepperoni

½ cup cooked and crumbled Italian sausage (optional)

½ cup sliced bell peppers (red, green, or yellow)

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Flour (for dusting)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 12x16 inches.

Layer Ingredients: Evenly sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Next, layer the pepperoni, crumbled sausage (if using), and sliced bell peppers on top of the cheese. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, and basil evenly over the filling.

Roll it Up: Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough away from you to form a log shape. Make sure to keep the filling inside the roll tightly. Pinch the ends and seam closed to prevent filling from escaping during baking.

Prepare for Baking: Transfer the rolled Stromboli to the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top and sides with beaten egg to give it a golden finish. Optionally, sprinkle a little salt and extra herbs on top for added flavor.

Slice for Ventilation: Using a sharp knife, make 3-4 small slits on the top of the Stromboli to allow steam to escape during baking.

Bake: Place the Stromboli in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.

Cool & Serve: Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5-10 minutes. Slice into thick pieces and serve with warm marinara sauce for dipping.
