8 oz fettuccine pasta

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup chicken broth

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp unsalted butter

1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Zest of 1 lemon

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the fettuccine according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.

    Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until pink, then flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

      Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Stir in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, allowing it to thicken for about 3 minutes.

        Add Cheese and Seasoning: Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. If it is too thick, add some reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.

          Combine Everything: Add the cooked fettuccine and shrimp to the skillet. Toss everything together, ensuring the pasta and shrimp are well-coated in the creamy sauce. Stir in the lemon zest for a fresh zing.

            Plate and Garnish: Serve the creamy garlic shrimp pasta hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley for a burst of color and flavor.
