Ingredients

1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup chicken broth

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Cooked pasta or rice (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season them with salt, pepper, and paprika. Set aside.

Melt the Butter: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until it begins to sizzle.

Sauté Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant. Be careful not to let it brown.

Cook the Shrimp: Increase the heat to medium-high and add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until they start turning pink, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until fully cooked. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Create the Cream Sauce: In the same skillet, add the chicken broth and bring it to a simmer. Let it reduce for about 2-3 minutes.

Add Cream and Seasoning: Lower the heat to medium and stir in the heavy cream, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes (if using). Let it simmer for another 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Mix in Cheese: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until it melts and combines smoothly with the cream sauce.

Combine Shrimp and Sauce: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, tossing them gently in the creamy garlic sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat the shrimp through. Adjust seasoning if necessary.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat, sprinkle fresh parsley on top, and serve the creamy garlic butter shrimp over cooked pasta or rice.
