Ingredients

8 oz fettuccine pasta

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving about 1/2 cup of the pasta water for later.

Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Once melted, add the shrimp and season with salt, pepper, and optionally, crushed red pepper flakes. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Alfredo Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and the minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer. Stir in the Parmesan cheese, allowing it to melt into the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.

Combine: Add the cooked fettuccine and shrimp back into the skillet. Gently toss everything together until the pasta and shrimp are well coated with the creamy sauce.

Serve: Plate the shrimp Alfredo pasta, garnishing with freshly chopped parsley and an extra sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, if desired. Enjoy your delicious, homemade Classic Shrimp Alfredo!
