Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup whole milk, warmed (about 110°F)

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup maple syrup

1/2 cup pecans, chopped (optional)

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

2 tablespoons maple syrup (for glaze)

2-3 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

Proof the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, add the flour (reserve a little for dusting), salt, cinnamon, and the softened butter. Mix well.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and vanilla extract. Add the yeast mixture into this bowl, and then pour the wet mix into the dry ingredients.

Knead the Dough: Mix the ingredients until they come together, then knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If too sticky, add a little more flour.

First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and chopped pecans (if using). Combine this mixture with the maple syrup to create a spreadable paste.

Roll Out the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a large rectangle (about 16x24 inches).

Add the Filling: Spread the cinnamon-pecan mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

Shape the Rolls: Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.

Cut into Rolls: Slice the log into 12 equal pieces using a sharp knife or dental floss for a clean cut.

Second Rise: Arrange the rolls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover again and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes, until puffed.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake the Rolls: Bake the cinnamon rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.

Make the Glaze: In a bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth.

Glaze the Rolls: Once the rolls are done, let them cool slightly before drizzling the glaze on top.

Serve & Enjoy: Serve warm and watch everyone delight in these heavenly maple cinnamon swirls!
