Ingredients

For the Apple Filling:

4 cups of sliced and peeled Granny Smith apples (about 5-6 apples)

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, chopped into small pieces

2 tablespoons cornstarch

For the Cinnamon Roll Base:

1 package of refrigerated cinnamon roll dough (with icing included)

1/4 cup butter, melted

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Topping:

1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Leftover icing from the cinnamon roll package

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Apple Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss until the apples are evenly coated. Set aside while you prepare the cinnamon roll base.

Prepare the Cinnamon Roll Base: Open the package of cinnamon roll dough and separate the rolls. Unroll each roll flat and then roll them into a rectangular shape, about 1/4 inch thick. You can use a rolling pin for this!

Assemble the Base: Spread the melted butter over the flattened dough. Sprinkle the brown sugar and vanilla extract evenly across the surface. Optionally, you can also sprinkle some chopped pecans or walnuts for added texture.

Layer the Apples: Pour the apple filling evenly over the cinnamon roll dough. Press down gently to ensure the apples are secured in place.

Roll it Up: Starting from the longer edge of the rectangle, carefully roll the dough with the apple filling tightly into a log. Ensure that the apples stay inside the roll.

Shape the Pie: Grease a pie dish with cooking spray or butter. Cut the roll into 1-inch thick slices and arrange them upright in the pie dish like a spiral. Make sure to distribute them evenly.

Bake: Place the pie dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.

Add Drizzle: Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. While it's still warm, drizzle the leftover icing from the cinnamon rolls over the top for a sweet finish.

Serve & Enjoy: Slice your Cinnamon Roll Apple Pie and serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an indulgent treat!
