Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup powdered sugar

2 large eggs

2 large egg yolks

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup dark chocolate chips (for lava center)

Optional: whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust lightly with cocoa powder.

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Heat in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, powdered sugar, eggs, egg yolks, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.

Slowly add the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring gently until fully incorporated.

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them halfway. Add 1 tablespoon of dark chocolate chips into the center of each ramekin, then cover with remaining batter.

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are set but the center is still soft.

Remove from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute. Carefully run a knife around the edges to loosen, then invert onto serving plates.

Serve immediately while the centers are still gooey, and top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
