For the Brownie Layer:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

For the Cheesecake Layer:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

    Prepare the Brownie Layer:

      - In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Mix well until smooth.

        - Add the eggs and vanilla extract, stirring until fully combined.

          - Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir until just mixed; do not overmix. The batter will be thick.

            Create the Cheesecake Layer:

              - In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until creamy and smooth.

                - Add the sugar and mix well, followed by adding the egg, vanilla extract, and flour. Mix until just combined; a few small lumps of cream cheese are okay.

                  Layer the Batters:

                    - Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.

                      - Spoon dollops of the cheesecake mixture on top of the brownie layer. Use a spatula to gently spread it out if needed.

                        - Pour the remaining brownie batter on top of the cheesecake layer, spreading it evenly. Use a knife or toothpick to swirl the two layers together slightly.

                          Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

                            Cool and Slice: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares. It’s best if you chill them in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before serving.
