Ingredients

1 package (1 lb) of frozen puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed in the refrigerator

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 large egg (for egg wash)

Pinch of salt

Optional: 1/4 cup chocolate chips or almond paste for filling

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare Puff Pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 6 equal triangles (you can do this by cutting the sheet in half lengthwise and then cutting each half into thirds).

Make the Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until well combined.

Assemble Croissants: Take a triangle of pastry, and brush the butter mixture over the surface. If desired, place a few chocolate chips or a small dollop of almond paste near the wide end of the triangle. Starting from the wide end, roll the triangle up tightly to the pointed end to form the croissant shape. Place each rolled croissant on the prepared baking sheet.

Egg Wash: In a separate bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the top of each croissant for a golden finish.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the croissants are puffed and golden brown.

Cool & Serve: Once baked, let the croissants cool on a wire rack for a few minutes. Enjoy them warm, or at room temperature, and savor the flaky buttery goodness!
