Ingredients

2 racks of baby back ribs (about 4-5 lbs)

1 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup kosher salt

1 tablespoon black pepper

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust based on spice preference)

1 tablespoon mustard powder

1 cup bourbon whiskey (for marinating and basting)

1 1/2 cups BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

Prepare the Ribs:

    - Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Remove the membrane from the backside of the ribs for better tenderness.

      Make the Dry Rub:

        - In a bowl, combine brown sugar, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and mustard powder. Mix well.

          Season the Ribs:

            - Generously rub the spice mixture over both sides of the ribs. Wrap the ribs in plastic wrap and let them marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours, or overnight for enhanced flavor.

              Prepare for Baking:

                - Place the marinated ribs on a large baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, meat side up. Seal them tightly with another piece of foil.

                  Bake the Ribs:

                    - Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender and easily tugged apart with a fork.

                      Make the Bourbon BBQ Sauce:

                        - In a saucepan, combine the bourbon, BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer over medium heat for about 10-15 minutes until slightly thickened.

                          Grill or Broil:

                            - Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or set your broiler on high. Once the ribs are done baking, remove them from the oven and brush a generous amount of the bourbon BBQ sauce all over the ribs.

                              Finish on the Grill:

                                - Place the sauced ribs on the grill or under the broiler. Grill for an additional 5-10 minutes, basting with more sauce and turning occasionally, until caramelized and slightly charred.

                                  Rest and Serve:

                                    - Remove the ribs from heat and let them rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve hot with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
