4 large ripe heirloom tomatoes, assorted colors

8 oz fresh buffalo mozzarella, sliced

1 cup fresh basil leaves, loosely packed

3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (preferably aged)

Sea salt to taste

Freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Prep the Tomatoes: Begin by washing the heirloom tomatoes thoroughly. Slice them into ¼-inch thick rounds, trying to retain their shape and integrity.

    Slice the Mozzarella: Take the buffalo mozzarella and slice it into rounds of the same thickness as the tomatoes.

      Layering: On a large serving platter, arrange the tomato and mozzarella slices in an alternating pattern. Start with a slice of tomato, followed by a slice of mozzarella, followed by a basil leaf. Repeat this until all ingredients are arranged beautifully on the dish.
