Tantalizing Taco Time: Easy Shrimp Tacos

Dietary Adjustments
For gluten‑free tacos, ensure the corn tortillas are certified gluten‑free. To make the dish vegan, substitute shrimp with marinated king‑size oyster mushrooms and use a plant‑based yogurt in the crema. Keto diners can skip the honey and use a pinch of erythritol, serving the tacos with low‑carb lettuce wraps instead of tortillas.
Serving Suggestions
Pair these tacos with a side of cilantro‑lime rice, grilled corn elote, or a cool cucumber‑mint salad. For a festive spread, set out a taco bar with extra toppings like jalapeño slices, radish ribbons, and a variety of salsas, letting guests build their perfect bite.

Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 8 small corn tortillas
- 1 cup shredded red cabbage
- 1 ripe avocado, sliced
- ½ cup fresh cilantro leaves
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
Marinade & Sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lime juice (fresh)
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 tablespoon honey or agave nectar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
Seasonings & Garnish
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Crumbled queso fresco (optional)
- Pickled red onions (optional)
Instructions
Cooking the Shrimp
- Heat the Skillet. Place a large skillet over medium‑high heat and let it get hot for about 2 minutes. Add a splash of olive oil and swirl to coat the surface.
- Sear the Shrimp. Add the marinated shrimp in a single layer, being careful not to crowd the pan. Cook for 2 minutes on one side, then flip and cook another 1‑2 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Overcooking makes shrimp rubbery, so watch closely.
- Rest the Shrimp. Transfer the cooked shrimp to a plate and cover loosely with foil. Resting for a couple of minutes lets the juices redistribute, ensuring every bite stays juicy.
